Buying guide

Choosing the right wheel hubs & bearings

A failing wheel bearing makes a humming or growling noise that rises with speed and often changes when turning. On most modern cars the bearing is part of a sealed hub assembly that bolts on, which is quicker to fit than pressing in a separate bearing.

Hubs vary by front or rear position, two or four wheel drive, the number of wheel studs and the ABS sensor type. Check each of those against your car, and replace the axle nut if your manufacturer specifies a new one.

Check these before you order

  • Front or rear
  • Two wheel drive or four wheel drive
  • Number of wheel studs
  • ABS sensor built in or separate
  • Series and build range

If your build date sits near the start or end of a listed range, send us your VIN through the contact page and we will confirm the fit before you buy.

Left hand is the passenger side and right hand is the driver’s side on Australian-delivered vehicles, viewed from the driver’s seat.
