Choosing the right guards

The guard is the panel over the front wheel, between the door and the front bumper. Americans call it a fender, which is why you will see both words used. A guard is one of the most commonly replaced panels after a minor front corner impact, and it bolts on rather than being welded like a rear quarter panel.

Guards differ by the holes cut in them: an indicator repeater hole, flare mounting holes on four wheel drives, and aerial holes on older models. Check those against your car. Guards are supplied unpainted, so allow for paint and fitting, and replace the inner guard liner at the same time if it was damaged.
